Let's end the week with the centerpiece of
my modest LeBron James Collection. It's an essential card to own for any James collector or basketball collector in general, what with it being the modern '86 Fleer Jordan and all. This was purchased raw on eBay (solid price at the time but almost certainly an overpayment to some extent in the long run) but I really wanted a copy and had some extra cash to play with at the time. I was expecting an 8 at best when I subbed it but was pleasantly surprised when I picked it up from the office.
The front centering is not amazing but an 8.5 on a 2003 Topps Chrome LeBron RC is perfect in my book. I really like the photo Topps chose to use on something they had to know could be legendary -- it is far superior to the photo they used on the base Topps release for LBJ.
The back centering is always atrocious on these and my copy is no different. It may not be a fancy LeBron rookie but it was a grail for me and my PC of one of my all-time favorite athletes and entertainers.
