Today's entry into my Zack Wheat Collection is an extremely scarce one that I am very happy to have pulled the trigger on at some point in 2020/2021. I snagged this from a big vintage dealer and while it wasn't cheap it was reasonable enough considering how tough it is. I had never even heard of it before seeing it.
Slabbed an SGC 50, this beauty hails from the 1922 (sometimes listed as 1921) Witmor Candy issue. It's a common pose used across a number of American Caramel Company releases with the back being the differentiating factor. PSA has none in its POP report and SGC has this exact copy and this exact copy only.
The backs are either horizontal or vertical and it's a cool added feature that Witmor was a California-based candy company as I've spent my entire life as a resident of this overpriced state. The vertical back is a bit cooler but I'm simply thrilled to have this exceedingly tough and rare Wheat with me for the rest of time.
