(Zack) Wheat Wednesday -- Vintage Spalding Baseball Guide Pages

As the years have passed and I continue to chase Zack Wheat cardboard and ephemera my needs list dwindles to the ultra-rare and the ultra-expensive. Pickups become more calculated and fewer and further between, but when something pops I know I need to jump on it quickly. My recent focus has shifted to the ephemera as I discovered vintage pages out of Spalding Baseball Guides that feature Zack.

They are super cool and unique and while they are not necessarily rare I very much want everything playing-era of Wheat -- so chase them and buy them I shall be doing! This full-page batting stance offering comes from 1919 and the photo Spalding used is from the legendary Charles Conlon.

What the back yields on these issues is a total crapshoot in terms of relevance to the front....but thankfully this particular reverse features a full write-up on ZW.
