Trade With prophet got it...: Cole Hamels, Ethier, Mystery Vintage

My last trade post of 2010. Though I still have a bunch in the works and a couple that are basically complete; but alas, I ran out of days in 2010 to post them. So I'll just pretend they all occurred next year. Anyhoo....

I completed an exceptionally, exceptionally excellent trade with Jimmy from prophet got it.... In exchange for four Marlins hits (three game used, one auto), some random Marlins cards, and an Alexander Ovechkin mini, Jimmy sent me a slew of awesome cards. And when I say slew, I mean a huge amount of awesomely awesome awesomeness.

The BIG, BIG, GINORMOUS draw:

Pinstripe!
I seriously LOVE this card.

On a side note, if anyone has any Game Used Cole Hamels cards (or Autos for that matter), hit me up! I'll definitely make it worth your while and hit up multiple PCs you have.

The next sweet piece of the pie:

The final hit, with more pinstripe-y goodness, is a card Jimmy sent me because he posted it, I commented and said I liked the design of the card, and he said "It's yours". Sweet!

115/299

A bunch of other sick, sick stuff:

268/499

XFractor-y Goodness

Pretty pretty shiny.

There was a heck of a lot more in the box of cards Jimmy sent me, as well as one other card Jimmy offered up, which he got from the Topps' Million Card Giveaway. So whenever Topps sends Jimmy the card and it makes its way to me, I shall post it then. Needless to say, it's an awesome card. A couple of hints as to what it is: it's a Dodger, and it's vintage. Pure, unadulterated vintage-y vintage goodness.

This trade was pure joy for me to be a part of, and I can't thank you enough Jimmy! Anything I come across that I think might pique your interest, I'll definitely set aside (and of course, any Marlins card I happen upon). Enjoy your hiatus, stay safe, and I'll catch you for more trades and jokes in the new year.

"Trade" With Baseball Savvy: Vintage. And Darren Dreifort.

I helped set up Lakers Savvy, a new Lakers blog that will be coming to a computer near you at some point soonish, a while back. It's the brainchild of Howard Cole, who runs Baseball Savvy. I told Howard no payment was necessary, that I was happy to help as much as I could. When he eventually offered to send cards my way, I couldn't turn them down. I mean, when someone offers you cardboard, and vintage cardboard no less, you jump on it.

Howard was kind enough to send me five cards, and all five now have a permanent home in my collection. Without further adieu, let's get to 'em:

1955 Bowman Don Hoak

This thing is in near mint condition. A beautiful looking set from Bowman, and my first from the set which I one day hope to put together. The Dodgers portion of it, of course.

1960 Topps Carl Furillo

1961 Topps Dodgers Team Card

1973 Topps Steve Garvey. Third Base. Awesome.

1995 Donruss Gold Leaf Rookies Darren Dreifort

This bad boy is my first Dreifort, well, anything, if memory serves. And it's signed. The best part of this card is how Howard came to procure it. This is how he told the story: "I paid $55 million for this one, over five years." Ah, it's the little things in life that bring me so much joy.

Thanks again for the cards Howard, and good luck with Lakers Savvy.

Law names Darren Dreifort as the worst free agent signing of the decade.

ESPN Insider is needed to read Law's thoughts in their entirety, including the bit on Dreifort.

The Dodgers Gave Out At Least 3 Of The 10 Worst Contracts Of The 2000s

Jeff Passan at Big League Stew lists the 10 worst contracts from this decade.

Three Dodgers make the list, all in the top 5.

Somehow Juan Pierre doesn't make it, though he would have if I had made the list.

At # 5, Andruw Jones.

At # 3, Jason Schmidt.

And at # 1, ........ drumroll please ........ Darren Dreifort.
