Finally Nabbed A T206 Chick Gandil!

Today's post features a brand new addition to my T206 Collection, and it's the first cardboard added to my modest PC in quite some time. I have long wanted a card of this player for reasons that are fairly obvious, and it took some time to dedicate myself to tracking one down. The card was part of my venture into submitting to SGC now that I no longer have an employee discount at PSA. The turnaround time was great and I'm a fan of the black tux slabs. With a distinct Black Sox theme to go with the black tux, here's my first and likely only card of Chick Gandil....

For being a 1, this Piedmont back presents quite well on the front. There is a lot of back damage, something I almost never care a lick about. I absolutely love the look of this Chick, from the simple batting pose to the choking up on the bat to the vintage sweater he is wearing.

Gandil was a member of the 1917 World Series Champion White Sox; spent time as a semi-pro boxer, a boilermaker in copper mines, a plumber, and a policeman; and was one of the ringleaders of the Black Sox scandal.

  1. Wow!!! I was recently looking into his cards, figuring that they'd be expensive, but I didn't think they'd be quite as expensive as they are. I just wanted one, but I don't think it'll be happening anytime soon.

    1. His stuff is definitely popular and more expensive than I would normally go for considering the real appeal is a scandal. I got lucky, so to speak, getting this as part of a severance package from a job lol.
