The term "Professional Hitter" bothers me for so many reasons. Just like "scrappy", "full of heart", and other terms of that nature that are just substitutes for the pejoratives we should be using. "Professional Hitter" is in reality just a cover, a sham.
When a player is referred to as a "Professional Hitter", what they really are is a mediocre at best, usually awful offensive player who once got a hit.
Here's looking at you, new Dodgers' bench and half of the Dodgers minor-league signings.
