I'm really falling in love with tracking down awesomely amazing Zack Wheat cardboard. It hits so many of my collecting interests: Dodgers, vintage, and pre-war vintage in-particular. My latest acquisition is the below slabbed T205 of the Hall of Fame Brooklyn outfielder.
Graded an SGC 30 this Polar Bear-backed beaut comes from 1911 and is a stunning work of art in this guy's eyes. The Brooklyn B is prominently featured in this portrait of Mr. Wheat, and the price was just right for me to take the plunge. There's a fairly large crease running through the U in Superbas that I didn't notice in the auction's scan; it may have dissuaded me had I had a clearer view of it. In the end though I'm just happy to have another pre-war Wheat to treasure.
