1972 Icee Bear Project -- # 9: Wes Unseld, Slabbed A PSA 8

I added a pair of PSA 8 1972 Icee Bears to my collection recently via eBay wins from the same seller with a nice deal on combined shipping. The cards worked out to $8 a piece and push me past the halfway point of this 20-card project.

The first of the two is Wes Unseld. Unseld, a Hall of Famer, won a title with the Bullets in the 1977-78 season and was named Finals MVP for his efforts in the seven-game series. I'm more impressed that he won NBA MVP as a rookie.

Both of these new additions will be the first '72 Icee cards I've picked up slabbed in new PSA holders. As crazy as it sounds I would prefer all of them to be old PSA just to appease my OCD but I know logically I shouldn't care for so many reasons. When I started collecting I didn't know what a graded card was and for the absolute longest time I didn't care about graded cards. If I can replace them down the line one day for a minimal cost I likely will but for now I'm just thrilled to be on the pace I'm on with this very fun venture.

  1. That's one of my favorite cards in the set. Unseld is doing his Ali pose. The hair, the uni...it just screams '70s'.

  2. The kiing of the outlet pass. Wes and Walton two of the best ever.
