A lot of my recent focus has shifted almost exclusively to tobacco and pre-war which is never a bad thing. A recent perusal of eBay turned up a card I couldn't pass up for the price. My T206 Collection is modest but growing and while I'm never going to try and tackle The Monster affordable and beautiful cards in the set will always be targets I aim to hit.
This gorgeous Hands Above Head pose of Brooklyn Superba George Bell, slabbed an SGC 20, presents with great eye-appeal for such a low grade. There's a small bit of paper loss on the back but other than that the card is a very solid VG-EX.
I aim to nab all the Brooklyn players one day and Bell's pose is one of the nicer in that grouping without a doubt. I always love when the Brooklyn B is on full display.
Bell didn't debut in the bigs until he was 32 and he would eventually pass on Christmas day of 1941. Interestingly enough his former teammate and fellow T206er Whitey Alperman would also die on Christmas day, one year after Bell.
Can't go wrong with any card from this set, but that one is particular is a beaut' Greg! Killer pick-up.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Still can't believe it didn't go for more with the eye appeal (and because it was Probstein haha).
Deletelove seeing other bloggers collecting the t206s as well. Good looking card!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kin! Always enjoying looking at your T206 posts too!
DeleteI've moved them over to Bean's Ballcard Blog...that's the site I'm using now. Picked up three more at a show this weekend!
DeleteThat white is so bright! Not sure what's more impressive... the beauty of this card or the fact that you have a T206 collection. Very cool.
