My 1000th Post! Kemp, Kershaw, and Russell Martin Say WOOOO!
Man, one thousand posts comes up damn fast. It was just about two and a half years ago that I started this here blog, and its evolution is something I still can't fathom and would never have foreseen or predicted. From actual analysis (some of it mildly hard-hitting, perhaps) to a full-fledged card blog to something somewhat in-between (but still mostly cards), it's truly been a fun ride.
Considering that this has become a card blog, it is only appropriate to display a few new pickups, all serial-numbered parallels and all welcome new additions to my Matt Kemp, Clayton Kershaw, and Russell Martin PCs. The above black parallel of The Bison is from 2011 Tier One, and numbered 02/50. That is one fantastic photograph choice on Topps' part. I take it this is from one of Matty's walk-offs, and it would be beyond awesome if it was Kemp's walk-off on August 12th against the Astros, as I was in attendance, planked after the game, and had an all-around awesome time. In fact, I had my best experience ever at a Dodgers game that night. Someone should investigate....
Next up, another black parallel of the $160 million man, #'d 18/60. It commemorates Matt's first All-Star Game and first Home Run Derby. Both Kemps arrived via eBay, and for ridiculously cheap and reasonable prices. The Tier One, by the by, was won with a 99 cent bid. WINNING.
The reigning Cy Young Winner comes to the party in this rookie parallel from 2008 Stadium Club 1st Day Issue, #'d 324/599. I snagged this from my LCS on Black Friday.
The final card is my newest Russ Martin, and is #'d 53/88. It's from 2008 Goudey, and I have no idea which parallel it is beyond it being the parallel that is numbered out of 88. Some quick internet research tells me this is more than likely referred to as a "Green Back" parallel. Which reminds me of "Goo Backs". Anyways, it was also an LCS pickup on Black Friday.

The Greatest Thing To Ever Happen To Anyone (a.k.a. Erin Hawksworth Knows Who I Am)
Seriously. You have no idea how happy I was to come across this (click to embiggen).
Erin Hawksworth - Erin Hawksworth - follows me on Twitter. She's only the most beautiful woman ever, a sports fan, and a sports reporter (i.e. in the general field I hope to one day be a part of). Oh yeah, and her brother pitches for the Dodgers, or something.
She also wished me a Happy Birthday on Twitter and once re-Tweeted me. I'm smitten, to say the least. Erin is legitimately the only woman who can do no wrong by me.
You may be saying, "Why has he decided to just post pictures of this young lady?" First, you'd be insane to say that. And second, there's a baseball glove in one of those pictures. So it's totally related to the premise this blog was founded upon.

Site News: It's My Birthday! And Important Contest Info.
I am 22 today. I am an old man. My life up until this point?
Meh.
My card collecting since I re-entered the hobby about a year ago?
Much, much more successful. Which is probably why I spend much too much money on cards more often than I should.
I digress.
Thank you to everyone who has entered my contest, played pimp and spread the word on it, and answered some easy bonus questions. A few quick notes on said contest. First, Bonus Questions # 2 and # 3 are still open for anyone who has yet to answer them and pick up some extra entries. If you have yet to actually enter the contest itself, you can still do that. And if you have yet to, you can still promote the contest if you'd like.
And for those of you who have read this far, there is one more opportunity to pick up another entry as this contest quickly winds its way to completion. One person can pick up an extra entry this time around, and only one. I need a favor.
I need someone to get me in contact with Nick Jacoby. You know, of Ginter cracking and Cardboard Overload fame. We have exchanged e-mails a few times about a trade, but I haven't heard back from him in about four months. And I need to know where our proposed trade stands. Because I really want what he was offering. So if anyone can reconnect me with him, I'd appreciate it. And mention to him why you're inquiring, and for him to mention your name to me, and I will give you a bonus entry.
That may seem cheap, but hey, I hate trade talks breaking down.
I understand that may make some of you uncomfortable, and I understand if you have no interest in this bonus possibility. But if you do have a direct line to him, maybe something along the lines of, "Hey, I know this cool cat who has a bunch of great Ginter stuff to offer you, you should totally hit him up." That would be just swell.
Just for anyone who may not already know, my future wife, who you see above, is the sister of Dodgers' reliever Blake Hawksworth. Needless to say, I'm simply smitten. If anyone can put me into contact with her (and perhaps get me a date) you can just have most of my cards.
Really.
They're not that important to me.
So yeah.
