Birthday Box Break # 3: 2010 Just Minors Mystery Mini Bats, Part 2.

The third part of my birthday box break extravaganza is upon us. First came the Panini All Goalies throw-in from D&A, followed by the first of my two boxes of 2010 Just Minors Mystery Mini Bats, which produced a Junichi Tazawa blonde bat #'d /20. Here's box and bat number two, and needless to say, I had no idea what the signature said.

Because it wasn't written in English. A check of the COA revealed a familiar name: Junichi Tazawa. Yes, that Junichi Tazawa. The checklist made no mention of any rare parallel bats, but the box tells me Junichi signed just 5 blonde bats in Kanji, based on what Wikipedia tells me is the name for the Japanese script. The bat itself is not serial-numbered, but the box has a 1/5 sticker on it and the COA has the 1/5 label as well.

It is a bit of a letdown when you pull a duplicate player, but considering how short-printed both bats are, and how extremely rare the Japanese script bat is, it's still pretty awesome. 2010 Just Minors Mystery Mini Bats is definitely a product I would recommend as a cool alternative to a box of cards, though I prefer the severely discounted price to the regular price.

All that remains from my birthday stash is my Gint-A-Cuffs box of 2012 Allen & Ginter. That will go live tomorrow, so come on back to see what I pulled.

  1. #2/5 is on eBay, apparently:

You could sell them as a pretty cool lot, for sure.

  3. Adam- Thanks for the heads-up! Not sure what I'm going to do with them, but that's definitely one possibility if I can get a price I'm happy with. Shipping 'em would be fun, I imagine haha.

Fuji- Haha, that was quite the comment indeed! And thanks!

  4. I've been waiting for Tazawa to break through for a couple years. He has shown a lot of promise. If memory serves, he's just getting to the point where, after TJ, he should be back to what we thought we were going to see.
