A T206 El Principe De Gales Back: Sherry Magee With Bat, PSA 2 (MK - Stamped)

I picked up another beautiful T206 from work recently. I'm aiming to pick up visually-appealing lower grade cards for reasonable prices. Great-looking poses, all of the Brooklyn players I need, and oddities rise to the top within those parameters and today's featured card displays a couple of those qualities.

Yes, it's that Sherry Magee, but his other pose in the set. Here's a card that I find to be a nice shot with good color. The most important thing, however, and what made me decide to buy it was the back of the card. Presenting the Prince of Wales....

It's my first El Principe De Gales back. While not an extremely rare back the EPDGs do fall roughly at the halfway point of scarcity and I like that it's a foreign language that must be spoken to say it. I have an affinity for many Spanish things, so owning cardboard in Spanish makes perfect sense.

The stamp on the back, an added bonus, says "Gabriels, N.Y." and can be found on others as well. There's a great website that catalogs the various stamps found on T206s that's an enjoyable read: "The Great T206 Back Stamp Project."

The Magee was even better as it cost nothing out of pocket, being paid for with excess hours I had worked over the last 2 weeks plus $20 from house-sitting for a great friend. (Essentially) free makes everything better.

  1. Nice. I was wondering why such a low grade... since the card front is beautiful. I just added my second t206 to my collection recently. Very excited to have another card from such an iconic set.
