Let's start this week off with a beautiful T206. Seriously, there is little better than a T206 -- common, semi-star, Hall of Famer, or all-time legend all find themselves in the greatest set ever known to colleting humanity.
Jack Warhop holds the record for most 1-0 losses in a season, being on the wrong end of five of those during one of his campaigns with the American League's New York squad. He pithed submarine style; was nicknamed "Crab" which totally does not make me think of the South Park crab people episode; worked as a coal miner for a railroad company as a young man; played semi-pro after the bigs until the age of 50; and spent time as a butler post-baseball.
Here's what attracted me most to this particular card, although I would have wanted it eventually anyways due to wanting all T206s; Warhop having an awesome name; and the pose he is in being pretty badass. The back of another card is peeking out on the left side and that sort of printer scrap-esque quality is super cool and ranks highly in my book as far as desirability goes.
This was picked up from my former job at the card shop, and looking at the back I can tell the exact collection this came from. My former bosses bought a huge collection of T206s that were all in scrapbooks and they soaked them to remove them from the books they were housed in for decades. The soaking left a distinctive look with a whitish area in the middle of every reverse.
