My First Dime Box.

Way back in March of 2012 I hit up my first Dime Box on a trip to Spiegel's LCS. I spent a grand total of $2 but, as with so many Dime Box experiences you read about in the blogging world, I was able to pick up some really cool cards. So thanks, Nick, for the idea. The scans look terrible unless you click on each, for some reason. So click on each.

 
I'll start with rookies of a Hall of Famer and a not Hall of Famer. Sam, the Bagwell is yours if you need it. Roy-Z, let me know if you're interested in the Delgado.

I found some pretty cool metal/promotional cards in the large Dime Box. The Jones has not been peeled and the Wood says "Promotional Sample" on the back.

I had to represent for the Jewish people when I saw multiple Shawn Greens. Roy, let me know if you want one of the Greens.

I plucked a couple of '70s cards from the clutches of the 10 cent bin. The Boone has already been dealt to Brad R. I love the colorful design of '75 Topps. This paragraph is Night Owl-approved.

Though I don't consider '70s cards to be vintage, two of the above definitely fall in the vintage category. The Martin slipped into the wrong scan.
 

Back to some '70s cardboard with another trio of ten penny pieces. Sam, are you in need of some Lemonjello?

Three modern-day "rookies."  At least I assume there's a good chance more than one, if not all, aren't the prescribed rookie card for each player. Not that I particularly care.

And finally, a card I only picked up due to name recognition. A need for you, Roy?

All in all, it was an enjoyable adventure digging through rows and rows of ten cent cardboard. An adventure I look forward to undertaking again and again.

Trade With BA Benny's Baseball Card Buffet: Kemp, Kershaw, Allen Webster, and Kai Forbath.

I completed my second trade with Mike from BA Benny's Baseball Card Buffet. Mike returned after a long hiatus, and we restarted trade talks from before his temporary departure. The bubbler that arrived had some cool stuff in it, beginning with another sweet Matt Kemp Ginter relic, my fourth from 2008.

On top of that Kemp, I received three new Bisons to add to my Matty collection, as well as a new Kid K. The Clayton gives me 150 unique cards of the Texas Southpaw. The stickers are sweet, and serve as a bit of a different PC addition for my collection. The sticker featuring the old Brooklyn throwbacks is by far my favorite card of the entire package, and it's not even a card.

A fantastic Bowman Platinum Refractor autograph of former Dodgers' farmhand and touted pitching prospect Allen Webster is the next card of note.

Next up, a pretty cool card of former UCLA Bruins' kicker Kai Forbath, who was on the team while I was on campus. It's from 2011 Sage and is a Make Ready parallel, numbered 36/50.

And finally, a Karim Garcia signature. I don't remember Garcia at all, and that's probably a good thing.

Trade With Cardboard Conundrum: A Dirtbag, A Commodore, and A Seminole.

I completed my fifth trade with Matt from Cardboard Conundrum. You can check out the first here, second here, third here, and fourth here. Matt and I swapped relics straight-up in a three for three deal. You can see what I sent his way by following this helpful link. Moving on to the great cards I received.

First up, the Seminole. I was always a J.D. Drew fan during his time in Los Angeles, and it's unfortunate he could never stay healthy, because he was a really, really good player. This patch was just too awesome to pass up, and it's numbered 044/100. I'm pretty sure the patch is part of the redbird on the front of a St. Louis jersey. Can anyone validate that, or if I'm wrong, alert me to where the patch comes from?

Next up, a sweet Ginter bat relic of Dirtbag Troy Tulowitzki. I once owned this card (not the exact one, but a copy of it), but it was sent to The Quarry in a shipment. I'm happy to finally own it again, and it's a great addition to my Tulo and Long Beach State PCs.

And finally, a nice blue swatch of a former Vanderbilt Commodore, Jay Cutler. Cutler is one of my favorite QBs, and Masterpieces - be it baseball or football - is just insanely awesome and a gorgeous product, so I'm happy to add the card to my collection.

• Bullpen: 4 IP, 4 ER, 5 Hits, 3 K, 2 BB [1 IBB], 1 HR Allowed, 1 WP, 1 Hit Batter.
• Garret Anderson hit his 2nd HR of the season. I would still cut him. NOW.
• Matt Kemp (Triple, Single), Russell Martin (Single, BB), and Ronnie Belliard (Double, BB) each reached base twice.
• The offense struck out 9 times, drew just 2 walks, and had 4 extra-base hits.
• In his return to Boston, Manny Ramirez singled in 5 plate appearances as the DH.
• Former Dodgers Adrian Beltre and J.D. Drew hit HRs.
• Nick Green signed with the Blue Jays.

Juan Castro Makes Some Noise In Philadelphia

Former Dodger Juan Castro, now a bench player for the Philadelphia Phillies, broke up the no-hitter being thrown by Red Sox's righty Dice-K Matsuzaka Saturday night in the 8th inning. The Red Sox won 5-0.

3 other former Dodgers played in the game: Adrian Beltre had 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, and a fine defensive play to preserve the no-no in the 8th; J.D. Drew had 2 Singles and an RBI; and Jayson Werth failed to reach base in 3 plate appearances.

4+1 Anniversary (Never Forget)

Today marks the 3-year anniversary of the 4+1 game back in 2006.

Of the 5 guys involved in that game, only one remains:
